"We have participated seven times in Interlift"

Berna Ökmen, Vice General Manager of Merih Asansör who answered our questions following Interlift and reminded that they have participated seven times in the exhibition, said “We have participated regularly in Interlift since stability in participating in the exhibitions is of vital importance. Thus it is very important for us to advertize our brand and to obtain a good position in Europe as a region where the standards are set in lift industry”

Berna Ökmen, Vice General Manager of Merih Asansör who answered our questions following Interlift and reminded that they have participated seven times in the exhibition, said “We have participated regularly in Interlift since stability in participating in the exhibitions is of vital importance. As Merih Asansör we stay the course of being a global brand. Thus it is very important for us to advertize our brand and to obtain a good position in Europe as a region where the standards are set in lift industry”   

 

- Mss. Berna could you list your purposes in participating the exhibition and talk about your earnings following the exhibition?

We have participated in Interlift since 2005. This year it was our seventh participation in the exhibition. We have participated regularly in Interlift because stability in participating in the exhibitions is of vital importance. As Merih Asansör we stay the course of being a global brand. Thus it is very important for us to advertize our brand and to obtain a good position in Europe as a region where the standards are set in lift industry

 

- With which products and services did you participate in the exhibition? What are the attitudes shown and questions asked about your products during the exhibitions?

Our goal in participating in the exhibition this year was to show that our products conform to EN 81-20 and EN 81-50. We offered our products to our well-esteemed visitors, which fulfill all requirements of new standard and are entitled to be certified accordingly. We got the opportunity to state what security criteria on the products to be commissioned are and implementation scenarios for these criteria and to answer questions raised on new standards. We aimed at raising the awareness of all domestic and foreign persons serving to industry by making statement on the products. It drew the attention of both our existing and potential customers.  

 

- What are the outstanding features and advantages of the exhibition as compared with other exhibitions?

Interlift is one of the greatest exhibitions in the lift industry and a leading platform where the lift experts in the world met each other. It brings together many visitors from mostly Europe and all around the world. Manufacturing firms take place predominantly and expose their innovations in the exhibition. We learned that Interlift 2017 hosted visitors from 114 different countries and it is a record number. Participants from all around the world and presence of major players and industry leaders make this exhibition more attractive.  

 

- What are your targets in Europe and regional area as a firm? Could you inform us on them by describing your current activities?

To be a global brands fall within our significant goals. We have an effort to represent domestic goods in best way by entering new foreign markets. It is very important to be accepted in Europe and thus we want to take attain a stable place in this region.   

 

- Starting from your impressions in the exhibition how do you assess the developments in the industry on the basis of product and firm?

We didn’t observe a large scale development or novelty on the basis of sector at Interlift 2017. Sector has focused mainly on to manufacture products in accordance with the conditions brought by the standard. We saw that products which fulfill the requirements of EN 81-20/50 other than novelties and relevant market demand are prominent. For instance need for home lift in old buildings was determined and manufacture of the appropriate products was speeded up. Studies on modernization were performed in the same manner.  We can say that market demands are not ignored but advanced and innovative products are not focused on highly and industry is in an off-peak period.      

 

-  Do you have any project or investment that you plan to put into practice as a firm?

There is no doubt that it is necessary to keep up with necessary innovations and to apply them in production processes. We carry out our production in accordance with European Standards and Lift Regulations. We fulfill and apply all conditions established by the regulation before the prescribed time. Our investments go on progressively in this sense. We are a firm which makes investment continuously on its own business. We have serious investments on P&D. If you don’t make any investment in your business, you are condemned to be shrunk. Starting from this point we have increased our investments unceasingly. Furthermore we increase our investments in technology, R&D and engineering as well as machinery and enlarge our staff. 

 

- Could you talk about your targets by giving information on your export activities in the recent period?

We have exported our products with an increasing momentum for 17 years. We are a firm which has exported its products to the customers in 60 counties. We take the number of the firms reached by us into consideration rather than the number of importing countries. In this sense determinative thing in our exportation goal is not the number of countries but our recognition and sales concentration. We reached a position to ask ourselves “yes we are available in 60 countries but to what extent?” We made MERİH familiar and preferred primarily especially in certain regions. We export our products mainly to the Middle East, Saudi Arabia, Europe and Russia. However we export them to many points from Australia to Canada. Our goal is to export our products to the countries to which we have never exported before and to raise our recognition in current importing countries.
